Square and Compass Quarterish

The inaugural Square and Compass Quarterish will be held on Saturday 23th April at 4pm. Whether you are a seasoned fell runner or this is your very first fell race, the Square and Compass Quarterish allows to experience the thrill of fell racing in Coastal Dorset. At a little over a Quarter Marathon, this is a partially marked, hilly, 11.4km category B Fell Race that encompasses the stunningly beautiful scenery of the Jurassic Coast before finishing at the Square and Compass in Worth Matravers.
All proceeds from the race will be donated to charity. For 2022, our chosen lead charity is the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
Full race information will be e-mailed to entrants in early April, about two weeks before the event. In the meantime, here is the route description:
Starting on the Priests Way, close to the intersection of the Abotts Way, head east for 0.7km then turn south towards Seacombe Bottom; after 1.4km turn east, climb to the “top path” and proceed to along the “top path” to 3.5km, where the mandatory path starts; continue along the “top path” to 4.9km (Checkpoint 1); turn west, descending to the “middle path” and follow the “middle path” which the joins the SWCP (South West Coast Path), with the mandatory path ending at 6.5km; continue on the SWCP to 7.1km (Dancing Ledge) and then ascend to 7.3km (Checkpoint 2); descend to re-join the SWCP, and proceed south west to 9.9km (Checkpoint 3); turn north climbing up East Man and follow the “ridge path”; finally at 11.3km, turn south west and head to the finish.
Runners must be 18 years or older on race day. The course is not suitable for wheelchairs, dogs, buggies or accompanying cyclists.
All finishers will receive a race memento. Prizes will be awarded to the first 3 male and female winners, the first male veteran and the first female veteran. (The FRA classifies all runners aged 40 or over on race day as veterans.)

Course Info
This 11.4km off-road course involves 295m of climbing.
The race day course makes use of some tracks that may not normally be open to the public; however, if you are practicing, in order to protect this sensitive environment, please use existing tracks.
The use of Electronic Navigation Equipment (GPS) including electronic compasses are not permitted on any fell race.
Race Day
Race HQ is at located at the Square and Compass, Worth Matravers, BH19 3LF.
There will be event parking located within a few minutes walk of registration. To minimise our environmental impact, please car share where possible.

I understand and agree that the organisers shall not be liable for any accidents, injury, loss or damage resulting from my participation in this Event. I declare that I am an Amateur and that I am medically fit to participate. I will be 18 years or over on 23rd April 2022. I understand that event officials reserve the right to delay, cancel, or suspend the race due to circumstances that would make it impractical and/or unsafe to stage the event, and that in such circumstance no refund will be given. I further understand that no refund will be given if I am unable to compete due to illness or injury.
